Abi - Veterinary Certificate of Heart Testing

March 1, 2018

Appointment arranged for 8th March in Glasgow for Abi, we are going to mate Abi 1st so important that we get this check completed to assess if we should be breeding from her.

Like the BVA eye exams this testing needs to be completed by a specialist and in this case in association with the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society in agreement with the RCVS, this is NOT an exam that a local vet can complete.

Again many adverts from breeders seem to mislead a potential new owner, when the advert says 'dog has been heart checked' that can mean a local vet checking if the dog has any noticeable murmurs it will not mean (in most cases) that a Canine Cardiologist reporting on behalf of the VCS / RCVS has completed the examination.  I urge all potential owners to ask for a copy of the Veterinary Certificate of Heart Testing as proof of testing.
