Bella off to the vets today at Vets4Pets to start her ovulation tests so that we can pinpoint the best time for her to be mated.
The tests are not held at the vets as standard so we had to order them in at a cost of £250 for 10 tests, which considering the distance we are travelling, the cost of accommodation and the cost of the stud it's totally worth it.
Process for testing is a small amount of blood is taken from Bella's neck, this is then tested using the purchased kit and the results can be supplied by the vet within the hour - the test looks for hormonal peaks in the blood that identifies the peak time in the cycle.
We are starting to test from day 3 of the cycle as we do not know when Bella will peak, though the average peak is days 10-13 but Bella being above average (in our opinion) the vet has confirmed not today but imminent.
As you can see from her photo its been a tiring day for her :)
Back to the vets tomorrow :)
