Its been an week since we travelled to Yorkshire with Bella to meet with Sprocket.
Unfortunately unlike human mummies its difficult to identify if a female is pregnant until they are about 4 weeks post mating when a Vet can complete X-rays / ultrasound scans, we prefer to let our girls be as you can tell from 6 weeks that a bundle is on the way plus its less stressful for the future mummy.
What is surprising to a lot of people is that the dogs sperm can survive in the uterus for up to seven days, so fertilisation may take place several days after mating!
For this 1st week: The embryos start off very high up in the uterus, but towards the end of the first week they migrate down towards the uterine horns. Here they float around within the uterine liquid.
Fingers still crossed :)
